AMANGIRI PLACEHOLDER : THE MONGOLIAN YURT

During the process of programming the lands earmarked for the development of  Amangiri, Bernt Kuhlmann anchored one of the most scenic sites with a placeholder, a minimalist tent structure, a yurt (or GER) brought in from the Mongolian Republic. It was decorated Dunton Style, with Asian antiques and other pieces of eclectic furnishings.

The total cost of erecting the  Mongolian Yurt, on its own ipe wood platform, complete with air-conditioning, and heating amounted to less than $35,000.  This even included an outdoor bathroom with a bathtub set into the desert floor.

The story of the Yurt living in Southern Utah, ended up being picked up by a dozen magazines from around the world, Including Marie-Claire, France; Casa Da Abitare, Italy; Elle Decoration, Russia; and Tatler, England - proving that a cool place doesn't necessarily have to cost a lot of money.
